Slow Food's Guest of Honor will be Au Currant's founder, Greg Quinn, horticulture expert. He is showing the way to profitability for many struggling farmers by reintroducing black currants. He projects his crop may provide a level of profitability for many in the region. Each year, hundreds of small farms in New York State cease to exist (thousands across the U.S.), and developers quickly snap up open land when farmers sell off their property. AU Currant's goal is to bring back black currant farms in hope of saving some of this open space.
