The Long Island Convivium of Slow Food

WELCOME!

The EAST END CONVIVIUM of Slow Food USA welcomes you to our website. As the CONVIVIUM concerned with Slow Food on the East End of Long Island, we have taken as our charter the promotion of the goals of Slow Food USA and Slow Food International as they apply to our special corner of the world. In short, those goals are as follows:

  1. Educational events and public outreach that encourage the enjoyment of pure foods that are local, seasonal, and organically grown.
  2. Caring for the land of the East End and protecting the biodiversity of our community for the benefit of future generations.
  3. Identification, promotion and protection of economically and ecologically fragile East End animals, plants, fruits and vegetables.
  4. Respect and support for East End artisans who grow, produce, market and prepare wholesome foods, wines and spirits.
  5. The revival of the kitchen and the table as centers of pleasure, culture and economy.
  6. Promoting a slower, more harmonious rhythm of life.

Our website will offer information on past events and news related to Slow Food issues on the East End, a calendar of coming events, links to artisans, growers and producers who have locally embraced the philosophy of Slow Food, information on the Junior Slow Food movement, and much more.

We encourage your participation! Please consider joining us, if you haven’t done so already. And please feel free to contact any of the leaders of the East End Convivium if you have any questions or comments.

Slowly Yours,

The Leadership of the East End Convivium
